Bruce Kobayashi, Ph.D.
Bruce H. Kobayashi is Professor of Law at George Mason University School of Law, where he has been a faculty member since 1992. Professor Kobayashi's teaching and research interests are in the application of economics to law. He has written articles examining the law and economics of intellectual property, antitrust law and regulation, litigation and procedure, evidence, uniform laws, and federalism. His articles have been published in numerous books and journals, including the Journal of Legal Studies, the Journal of Law, Economics &Organization, the International Review of Law and Economics, Research in Law and Economics, Research in Transportation Economics, Economic Inquiry, the RAND Journal of Economics, the Supreme Court Economic Review, and the Journal of Economic Behavior &Organization, as well as numerous law reviews. He has written entries for the New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics and the Law, and for the Encyclopedia of Law and Economics.
He currently is the chair elect of the executive board of the AALS Section on Antitrust and Economic Regulation. Professor Kobayashi has previously served as a Senior Economist in the Division of Economic Policy Analysis of the Federal Trade Commission, as a Senior Research Associate at the United States Sentencing Commission, and as an Economist for the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. He also has served as a contributing editor for the Supreme Court Economic Review, as a member of the advisory board for the BNA Patent, Copyright &Trademark Journal, as a lecturer in the Law and Economics Center's Antitrust Institute for Federal Judges and Economics Institute for Law Professors, and as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at GMU.
Professor Kobayashi received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics, and his B.S. in Economics-System Science, all from the University of California, Los Angeles.
